My work utilizes textile manipulation on repurposed materials and images to reflect the experiences of queer and trans people.

Textiles have physical qualities that mimic the fluidity of queerness. The same type of fabric will behave differently depending on how it is treated. It can be stiffed, draped, gathered, warped, trued, and so much more. Then, working with textiles often involves a shift in dimension from a flat plane or thin line to a three-dimensional sculpture. Both of these qualities match how queer communities evolve and change over time.

Ultimately, by using fabric scraps from clothing and distorted images, I explore the role of self-expression and presentation within queerness.
